United Kharsang Football Club UKFC entered the semi-finals of the 25th edition of the International Invitational Budhasubba Gold Cup after defeating the host Dharan Football Club. Kharsang defeated Dharan in sudden death in the second quarter-final at Dharan Stadium on Sunday.
Due to lack of time, the match was decided directly from the penalty shootout after the two goals were tied 1-1 at the scheduled time. After both teams scored 5-5 in the penalty shootout, Dharan's Prajwal Thapa scored in sudden death, but Manoj Rai's shot was wasted.
Akash Pradhan and Hemraj Bhujel scored in the sixth and seventh shots respectively for UKFC. Khursang took the lead in the 18th minute of the match with Bhujel's goal. Vinod Rai of the host club returned the goal in the 40th minute.
Bhujel, who scored the decisive goal in Sedan Death, was named player of the match and received a cash prize of 10,000. Kharsang avenged last year's defeat against hosts Dharan. In the previous edition, the visiting team was defeated by the hosts in sudden death by 10-9.
