Nepal's third consecutive defeat in the women's T20 international triangular cricket series
Nepal made a decent comeback thanks to the excellent bowling of Sita Ranamar, but the result was not in their favor again and they were forced to suffer their third consecutive defeat in the Women's T20 International Triangular Cricket Series. Netherlands defeated Nepal by 15 runs on Sunday.
Netherlands, who won the toss and batted first, were in a strong position of 85-3 at the end of the first 10 overs at the Trivi Cricket Ground in Kirtipur on Sunday. But after Debrehate spinner Sita took 5 wickets with the best bowling performance of her playing life, Netherlands lost 9 wickets in the scheduled 20 overs and scored only 140 runs.
Bowling his second over in the 18th over, Seetha dismissed two other players, including Netherlands captain Babette de Leede. After he took 2 more wickets in the last over of the innings, Nepal made a decent comeback in bowling. Sita played her best bowling by taking 5 wickets for 12 runs in 3 overs. In August 2023, she took 5 wickets for 16 runs in Malaysia against Hong Kong. Manisha Upadhyay took 2 wickets for 31 runs in 4 overs and Kavita Joshi and captain Indu Burma took 1 wicket each.
D Leede scored the highest 41 runs. He hit 4 fours and 1 six off 38 balls. Heather Seegers scored 26 off 23 balls with 3 fours and openers Phebe Molkenboer and Robine Rijke scored 21 runs apiece.
Nepal, defeated in both previous matches, allowed spinner Revati Dhami to make her debut in place of the injured Kavita Kunwar. But Nepal did not bring him to bowl again after giving 10 runs after bowling 1 over due to a strange bowling action. In the previous match against Thailand, the medium pace bowler Kavita suffered a back injury after bowling 2 overs.
Nepal disappointed again in batting. Despite the good start by adding 31 runs in the power play, Mjakan Khadka and Mamta Chaudhary, Nepal lost 8 wickets and managed to score only 125 runs. This partnership was broken after Mamata was stumped for 7 runs in the fifth ball of the sixth over. In the next over, Yaman was also dismissed for 23 runs off 25 balls. She hit 4 fours.
Captain Indu Burma scored the highest 30 runs. She hit 1 six off 32 balls. Pooja Mahato scored 18 off 18 balls with 1 four, Kavita Joshi scored 14 off 15 balls with 1 six and Sita scored 10 unbeaten runs off 6 balls. From the Netherlands, Iris Willing, Caroline de Lange and Heather Seegers took 2-2 and Eva Lynch and Isabel van der Voening took 1-1 wicket.
Nepal lost by 20 runs against Netherlands in the first match and had to suffer a 4-wicket loss against Thailand the previous day. This is the second win in 3 games for the Netherlands. In the previous match, the Dutch team lost to Thailand by 8 wickets. Participating teams will play each other three times and the team with the most points will be the winner. Thailand has won the first two matches.
