Lucky Sankata Champion

Sankata was on the verge of certain defeat. If both shots are not scored at the beginning of the penalty shootout, it will be difficult to return to the game from that position. But fortune sometimes favors such a team, Sankata has presented such a model. Sankata won the Chairman's Cup title on Thursday after defeating Bagmati Democratic in sudden death.

After a scoreless 90 minutes, the match went straight to penalty shoot-out and Sankata staged an incredible and dramatic comeback. "We were under a lot of pressure after not scoring our first two penalties," Sankata's goalkeeper and captain Deep Karki said, "but I had the confidence to turn the game in our favor." This is a happy occasion.'  He was the hero of this victory of

crisis. But it was his counterpart captain and goalkeeper, Vikesh Kuthu, who shined in the beginning. He stopped Ram Thapa and Roshan Pahari early on. Naveen Lama and Fode Fofana scored for Bagmati. It was Bagmati who should have won the match from 2-0. But the script of the game was not written that way.  Lakshu Thapa scored a goal soon after for the

crisis. But Kuldeep Karki's shot was blocked by Deep. Sam Carlos scored for Sankat to make it 2-2. Rajat Tiwari's fourth penalty shot for Bagmati was badly missed. In this case, Deep himself went down for the penalty kick and also scored, resulting in Sankata leading for the first time, 3-2.

Sunil Khadka scored for Sankat after Sene Alex's strike was converted for Bagmati and the team was ahead again. After Deep saved Gaurav Shrestha's last shot, the formality of Sankata's victory was completed. The best player of the Deep competition was also selected for this performance. The consolation prize went to Vikesh. He remained, the best goalkeeper of the tournament. It was also somewhat natural as both teams had won the semi-final on penalty shoot-out to reach the final.

We planned to play aggressively from the beginning. We maintained that in the second half as well. But our winger didn't move," said Sankata's coach Ravindra Shilakar. What he believes is that Sankata is fully deserving of the title because Sankata has played well in the tournament. Even in the final, the grip on the game was on the side of crisis.

Sankata missed certain opportunities for goals.

'We have been playing football continuously for some time now. Be it U-16 and U-18 or the women's league. Our men's team is also playing continuously. We are not silent. As a reward for that, we should have become champions today,' added coach Shilakar. Bagmati coach Prakash Vaidya said that luck did not favor his team. He said, "In a tiebreaker, luck can be on whoever's side." Otherwise, overall, our performance in the competition was good.'
