Janakpur Knights will compete against Kathmandu Mavericks at Rakhep Covered Hall on Friday for the championship in the first ever KB Sam Nepal Kabaddi League (NKL).
Kathmandu is the same team, which prevented Janakpur from winning 100 percent in the entire tournament. In the league stage, Kathmandu tied Janakpur with a score of 39-39 and took away the points. Janakpur won all four matches of the league and won the top position. Kathmandu was third with 3 wins, 1 draw and 1 loss.
Janakpur defeated Biratnagar Bandits in Qualifier 1 and made it to the finals. Kathmandu brushed aside the challenge of Dhangadhi Wildcats in the eliminator. After that, in the Qualifier 2, they beat Biratnagar in a one-sided match and reached Kathmandu for the title.
Kathmandu's captain Ghanshyam Roka Magar said at a press conference on Thursday that both teams are good and He also said that Janakpur is a very good team. He said, "But we want to play well and become NKL champions." He is also the captain of the national team. He came to Nepal to play in the NKL after becoming the champion of India's Pro Kabaddi League from Haryana Steelers this season.
Kathmandu coach Saroj Kumar Singh also said that his team is ready to win the title. "All the teams that play in the final want to become champions and ours is also to become champions in the NKL for the first time," he said.
Janakpur coach Parvati Rai said that it is impossible to say who will win the final, but she wants to lift her title. Being the only woman among the coaches of the 6 NKL teams, she said, "Our team played well in the league." We did well in the qualifiers and reached the finals. We are playing well so far.
