Nepal Premier League (NPL) cricket winning team captain Anil Kumar Shah has become the brand ambassador of educational consulting firm Optimus Global.
Anil, the top batsman of the national cricket team, has signed a three-year contract with Optimus Global. Optimus chairman Asim Sharma Mainali and cricketer Shah signed the agreement. Both have not disclosed the financial aspect. It seems that education and sports are interconnected, because when we play abroad, more than 90 percent of the people who come to support the Nepali team are students. Even when playing at the home ground, the students come to the field and support a lot," Anil said. "This kind of agreement helps the players to stand up financially." However, he did not play since the qualifiers due to a hand injury. Most of the players of the Nepali national team have become brand ambassadors of educational consulting organizations.
Chairman of Educational Consultancy Association Nepal ICAN, Sesharaj Bhattarai, praised the leadership of ICAN's member organizations in the development and upliftment of Nepali cricket. Ex-Chairmen of ICAN, Bishnuhari Pandey and Prakash Pandey, and Deepak Gurung, Secretary General of Nepal Democratic Sports Association, said that the educational consultancy organization and Nepali cricket are moving forward hand in hand. Vice President of Nepal Cricket Association Roshan Kumar Singh pointed out that business houses like ICAN should also associate with cricketers.
Mainali, the head of Optimus, said that the agreement with Anil is just the beginning and that many collaborations can be done in the future.
