FM Rupesh Jaiswal has maintained his lead when the third stage of the National Intelligence Competition in Hetaunda was completed.
With consecutive wins, former Nepalese champion Jaiswal scored 3 points and re-claimed the title of national champion. 2093 rated Rupesh of Rautahat has succeeded in defeating 1952 rated Suroj Maharjan of Lalitpur, 2021 rated Shushrut Dahal of Jhapa, 1882 rated Premkrishna Maharjan of Kathmandu respectively.
Dolakha's Ashish Phunyal also performed well in the competition scoring an unbeaten 2.5 points. Second placed 1981 rated player Ashish defeated 2016 rated FM Rijendra Rajbhandari of Kathmandu and 1687 rated Vinay Thapa of Bhaktapur and tied with 2045 rated Purushottam Silwal. In the
competition, Kavre's 2070 rated FM Kshitij Bhandari and patient player Premkrishna Maharjan both got equal 2-2 points and occupied the joint third place. Similarly, Shushrut Dahal of Jhapa, current Nepal Champion 1982 rated Rajan Subedi and CM Naveen Tandukar of Kathmandu have scored the same 1.5 points. 1878 rated Dhiren Rai, Yuva Purushottam Silwal, Suroj Maharjan, Rijendra Rajbhandari of Sunsari have opened 1 mark account. Vinay Thapa is scoreless.
Sindara Joshi from Kathmandu and Angel Maharjan from Lalitpur won all the games and won the joint first place in the women's category.
Current Women's National Champion Sindira has registered victory over Nihana Shrestha from Kathmandu, Nayuma Magar from Rukum and Lakshmi Kandel from Chitwan. Angel defeated Olympians Shanti Dhimal, Nihana Shrestha and Nayuma Magar.
Poonam Prasain of Jhapa, Sushila Gurung of Taplejung, Shanti Dhimal of Morang, Isha Giri of Banke, Kritisara Adhikari of Jhapa and Vinita Kapali of Kathmandu have all occupied the joint second position with equal 2-2 points.
