The second round of the KB Sam Nepal Kabaddi League (NKL) is starting on Monday. Undefeated top ranked Janakpur will compete against Biratnagar Bandits in Qualifier 1 and Kathmandu Mavericks and Dhangadhi Wildcats in Eliminator.
Janakpur grabbed the top position by scoring 23 points with four wins and one draw in the league stage of NKL held at the Covered Hall in Tripureshwar. Along with this, Janakpur also decided to play Qualifier 1 of NKL.
According to the provision that the top two teams of the league will play Qualifier 1, Janakpur and the second placed Biratnagar will compete. Kathmandu and Dhangadhi will compete in the Eliminator and the winning team will advance to Qualifier 2. The final will be held on January 18.
Janakpur, under the leadership of head coach Parvati Rai, defeated Himalayan Raiders 35-24, Dhangadhi Wildcats 37-31, Biratnagar Bandits 40-38 and Pokhara Lakers 36-29 in the round robin league, and in the last match, they tied with Kathmandu Mavericks 39-39. was finished.
In the first edition of the NKL with 6 teams from 6 cities, Janakpur Knights (23), Biratnagar Bandits (21), Kathmandu Mavericks (19) and Dhangadhi Wildcats (11) made it to the play-offs by remaining in the top four of the league, while the bottom two teams Pokhara Lakers ( 4 points) and Himalayan Raiders of Butwal (7 points) were eliminated from the league stage.
In the NKL organized by Astronics Management, there is a provision for a team to get 1 point if they lose by 7 points or less. The winning team gets 5 points and if the score is equal, 3-3 points.
