Kenyan runner Julius Mauriki Hisan Itahari became the 8 km run champion. Mauriki completed the prescribed distance of 8 km open run organized by Hisan Sunsari High School and Secondary School Association in 24 minutes and 25 seconds.
Saroj Limbu finished second in 25 minutes 31 seconds and Ocean Rai finished third in 26 minutes 5 seconds. On the women's side, Indrakala Nemwang stood first, Juhi Rai stood second and Sakuntala Rai stood third. Indrakala completed the prescribed distance in 31 minutes 3 seconds, Juhi in 32 minutes 35 seconds and Sakuntala in 33 minutes 31 seconds.
The first to third place winners received cash prizes of 12,000, 10,000 and 8,000 rupees respectively. More than 800 Nepalese runners, including some foreigners, competed in the 8 km run.
