The 25th Men's and 10th Women's National Intelligence Competition has started under the organization of Nepal Intellectual Federation. Rajan Subedi of Jhapa, the current champion of Nepal, won the first championship at Hotel Saamna in Hetaunda.
Rajan, the 24th national intellectual winner, defeated Lalitpur's tactician master Saroj Maharjan in the first round of the match by displaying a technical game.
The Federation has been conducting a national tournament for a few years by including the top 3 players from the National Senior Champion and the top 9 players from National 'B' in the format of the National Championship. There is a provision to announce the national winner after 11 rounds of competition between the same 12 players in both categories.
In the first stage of the competition, Nepal's second CM Sushrut Dahal was defeated by former Nepalese champion FM Rupesh Jaiswal. Nepal Tesra FM Kshitij Bhandari has disappointed the expected young player Purushottam Silwal. In the beginning, Silwal, who played without a single ball, eventually succumbed to the pressure of time.
Premkrishna Maharjan of Kathmandu managed to defeat Dhiren Rai of Sunsari in a tough match. Experienced player Premkrishna made a precise move against Dhiren and turned the game in his favor. Former Nepalese champion CM Naveen Tandukar easily defeated young player Vinay Thapa from Bhaktapur. Ashish Phuyal, a young player from Dolakha, played an excellent game against FM Rajendra Rajbhandari and won by pissing himself off.
On the women's side, emerging players Isha Giri beat Poonam Prasai and Angel Maharjan defeated Shanti Dhimal. Banke's Isha wins against Jhapa's Poonam by centralizing wisp and covering important squares.
Angel from Kathmandu defeated Olympiad player Shanti Dhimal with an excellent move. Current Nepal champion Sindira Joshi won easily over Nihana Shrestha and Jhapa's Kritisara Adhikari over Nayuma Magar. Taplejung's Sushila Gurung defeated Chitwan's Lakshmi Kandel and Vinita Kapali defeated Danisha Puri. Dharam Bahadur Lama, the General Secretary of the Federation, coordinator of the
competition, informed that there will be two more rounds of matches on the second day. He said that 2.5 lakhs will be spent to organize the tournament and the money will be collected from Bagmati Province Sports Development Council, National Sports Council, Hetaunda Sub-Metropolitan City and other places.
