Red Star Veterans Birthamod became the winner of the 2nd International Invitational Phidim Veterans Gold Cup held at Phidim in Panchthar. In the final held on Saturday, Birtamod Jhapa won the title after defeating the rival host Fidim Veterans Club by 4-2.
For the victory of Jhapa, Khemraj Pokharel alone scored 3 goals and another goal was scored by Buddha Chemjong Limbu. On the other hand, Subwas Limbu and Ashok Limbu scored 1 each for the host Phidim Veterans. With the
win, Birtamod received a trophy, medal and certificate along with 1 lakh 5 thousand in cash, while the runner-up Fidim settled for 50 thousand in cash and a trophy.
Bhupen of Jhapa was declared the best player and was awarded with cash of five thousand. Similarly, Milan Basnet of Jhapa West Goal Keeper, Anil Chudal of Fidim Best Defense, Premkrishna Shrestha of Jhapa Best Coach, Buddha Chemjong West Forward of Jhapa, Pradesh KC West Midfield of Fidim, Khemraj Pokharel of Jhapa were awarded as High Scorer.
Similarly, 46-year-old Khadg Nemwang of Buddhist veterans was awarded as the senior player. Santosh Moktan, President of District Sports Development Committee, Panchthar, presented prizes and trophies to the winning team and players from the seat of the chief guest.
The competition that started on January 9 was organized by Fidim Veterans. Where 8 veteran teams including one from India and 7 from Nepal participated.
