Santoshi Shrestha, a runner from Dhading, has won the Right to Protein Run Half Marathon title. Santoshi won the title for the third time in the fourth edition of the tournament held at Dasharath Stadium on Saturday.
She has won titles in all the editions she has participated in. Santoshi did not participate in the second edition.
Rajan Rokaya of Tribhuvan Army Club is the winner for men. Rajan won the first title in his third participation. He was fourth in the first edition and second in the second. The winner of the previous edition, Deepak Adhikari, competed in 10 km this time.
Phulmati Rana was the winner in the second edition in which Santoshi did not participate. Olympic gold medalist Santoshi completed the prescribed 21 km distance in 1 hour 20 minutes 48 seconds . Army's Purnalakshmi Neupane finished second with a time of 1 hour 22 minutes 51 seconds and SAG's marathon silver winner Pushpa Bhandari of the APF won the third place with a time of 1 hour 24 minutes 21 seconds .
Army's Nirmala KC was fourth and Nepal Police's Sumitra Chaudhary managed to finish the race in fifth place.
Rajan won the men's race in 1 hour 6 minutes 10 seconds . Army's Khadak Bahadur Khadka, who was 5 seconds behind him, finished second with a time of 1 hour 6 minutes 15 seconds. Wahome's Julius Murluki finished third with a time of 1 hour 6 minutes 20 seconds. Army's Mukesh Pal and Sushil Kumar Shahi won the fourth and fifth positions.
The top 5 winners in both male/female category got Rs 150,000, Rs 1 lakh, Rs 70,000, Rs 50,000 and Rs 30,000 respectively.
Army's Sanjay Shrestha won the men's open 10 km race in a competition organized by the Nepal Veterinary Association. He clocked 30 minutes 10.07 seconds . Mingmar Sherpa of Dolakha (31 minutes 08.40 seconds) was second and the former half marathon winner Deepak Adhikari (31 minutes 17.29 seconds) was third. Army's Ramji Basnet was fourth and APF's Santosh Vikram Bista was fifth. The first won 50,000, the second won 40,000, the third won 30,000, the fourth won 20,000 and the fifth won 10,000.
Phoolmati Rana of APF became first in women's 5 km race. The winner of the half marathon of the second edition, she won the race with a time of 23 minutes and 13 seconds. Asha Rawat of APF was second and Deepa Periyar was third. Asha took 23 minutes 37 seconds and Deepa took 23 minutes 45 seconds. Rajyalakshmi Rawal of Jumla came fourth and Rekha Limbu of Army came fifth.
Lokendra Bohra was the winner in the 5 km boys category (up to class 12). He clocked 21 minutes 20.86 seconds . Krishna Bahadur Periyar was second with 21 minutes 23.27 seconds and Hasta Sunar third with 21 minutes 25.14 seconds. Samrat Koyahang Limbu was fourth and Pukarjung Basnet was fifth.
Ramesh Khatri, Prem Bahadur Vick, Deepak Alemgar, Vishnupukar Shrestha and Arjun Dong won the top 5 positions respectively in wheelchair men. Among the women, Aishwarya Kumari Kumal was the first, Jakri Magar was the second, Rajni Rai was the third, Hiukala Saud was the fourth and Meena Magar was the fifth. The top 5 winners in the school and wheelchair competitions received prizes of 30,000, 20,000, 15,000, 10,000 and 5,000 rupees respectively.
Asmita Bhujel was the winner in girls 3 km for school (up to class 12) with a time of 17 minutes 30.67 seconds . Narayani Bhandari was second in 17 minutes 51.55 seconds and Bhagwati Khadka was third in 18 minutes 00.05 seconds. Pooja came fourth and Pushpa Sharma came fifth. 20,000 for the first, 15,000 for the second, 10,000 for the third, 5,000 for the fourth and 2,500 for the fifth.
The winner was presented by Agriculture and Livestock Development Minister Ramnath Adhikari, National Sports Council Member-Secretary Tanklal Ghising, Director General of Animal Services Department Dr. Dr. Umesh Dahal, Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development. Dr. Rajendra Prasad Mishra, coordinator of Right to Protein Half Marathon. Sitalkaji Shrestha and others awarded. Coordinator Shrestha said that about 8,000 people participated in the
competition. All the races started from Dasharath Stadium in Tripureshwar and ended at Dasharath Stadium after beating different parts. Apart from 8 competitions, there was competition in children's run for fun.
