The first Pushparaj Shakya Memorial Table Tennis Tournament is going to be held from January 24 in the organization of Kholcha Pukhu Sports Committee.
Nadimaratna Shakya, chairman of the organizing committee and co-convenor of the competition, said that there will be six different competitions in the competition. Men's/Women's Singles, Veteran 40 Years, 50 Years and Over 60 Men's Singles will be contested. The U-16 mixed youth competition has been held so that only the players of Ward 11 of Lalitpur Metropolitan Municipality can play. Aroj Kumar Khadgi, president of Ward 11 and competition coordinator, said that Lalitpur Metropolitan Municipality Ward 11 is the main sponsor of the
competition. The competition will cost around 5 lakh rupees.
In the competition with a total prize money of 2 lakh rupees, the top three places in male/female singles will receive prizes of 30 thousand, 15 thousand and 7 thousand 500 rupees respectively. In the remaining 4 competitions, the first place will get 10,000, the second place will get 5,000 and the third place will get 2,500.
The night tournament will be supported by Eleven Star Club, Ikhachen Sports and Lalitpur District Table Tennis Association. The three-day tournament, which will be managed by the spin event, will be held at the Eleven Star Club in Shankhamul.
e. Pushparaj Shakya passed away last year. He died due to a heart attack while playing in the fifth Mayor's Cup table tennis veteran tournament held in Lalitpur.
