Organizers expect more than 8,000 people to participate in the fourth Right to Protein Run Half Marathon to be held this Saturday. In a press conference on the preparation of the competition on Wednesday, former president of Nepal Veterinary Association and coordinator of the competition Sitalkaji Shrestha said that more than 8000 people are expected to participate in this half marathon.

Stating that more than 3,000 people have applied till Wednesday, Coordinator Shrestha said that there will be more participation than previous years as there are still registrations to be done.

Men's/Women's Half Marathon, Men's 10 km, Women's 5 km, 5 km for students up to 12th standard and 3 km for students, wheelchair for differently abled persons and Run for Fun category for women and children.

Starting from Dasharath Stadium in Tripureshwar, reaching Thapathali, Maitighar, Baneshwar, Koteshwar, Bhaktapur and going through the same route, the half marathon will end at the stadium. 10 km to Koteshwar, 5 km to Civil Hospital Baneshwar, 3 km to Bijjibazar, wheelchair race will reach Maitighar Mandla and will come to the stadium through the same, race director RK Bisht informed.

Coordinator Shrestha claimed that this competition is the biggest half marathon competition in Nepal in terms of participation and prize money. The total prize money of the competition is around 18 lakh rupees. Olympians Santoshi Shrestha and Deepak Adhikari were the winners in the last edition. The

organizers have arranged equal prizes for men and women. The champion in the half marathon will get 150,000. The second will get one lakh, the third will get 70,000, the fourth will get 50,000 and the fifth will get 30,000. In the 10 km open race, the winner will receive a cash prize of Rs 50,000, second runner-up Rs 40,000, third runner-up Rs 30,000, fourth runner-up Rs 20,000 and fifth runner-up Rs 10,000. 30,000, 20,000 and 15,000 respectively will be given to the winners of the top three positions in the women's 5 km and the school boys' 5 km. The fourth will get 10,000 and the fifth will get 5,000. The winners of the top 5 places of 3 km will get prizes of 20,000, 15,000, 10,000, 5,000 and 2,500 respectively. There is also a prize for

wheelchairs. 30,000, 20,000 and 15,000 prizes are awarded to the top three players in women and men respectively.

About 500 volunteers will be mobilized for the marathon with the technical support of Nepal Athletics Association, race director Bisht informed. He said that this competition is helping in the preparation for the players who will participate in the international competition from Nepal. Actor Saroj Khanal, the brand ambassador of the

competition, said, 'For a nation to prosper, the citizens of that country must also be healthy. Food is needed to be healthy. Out of that, we have tried to give a public awareness message about how much protein our body needs through this competition. It is said that USEC's main sponsor for the

competition will be the special support of Animal Services Department and Nepal Feed Industry Association. The half marathon jersey was also announced at the press conference.
