The Nepali team, which made its debut in the ICC U-19 Women's Twenty20 World Cup, was defeated in the first match. Nepal lost to Bangladesh by 5 wickets in the opening tournament in Malaysia on Saturday.

Bangladesh won the toss and invited Nepal to bat at the USD-UKM Cricket Oval in Bangi. But after 5 batters were run out, the Nepali team was bowled out for 52 runs in 18.2 overs. After Nishita Akhtar cut and bowled opener Savitri Dhami for 1 run, Nepal's wicket began to fall.

The first Nepali player to be run out was captain Pooja Mahato. She was dismissed for 2 runs. Vice-captain Soni Pakhrin was bowled by Anisha Akhtar for zero and Kiran Kunwar was bowled by Jannatul Maua for 1 run. Player of the match Maua bowled Sana Pravin for 19 runs. Sana played 26 balls. Maua took 2 wickets by spending only 11 runs in 4 overs. 

The boundary struck by Simana KC in the 12th over was the first of the Nepali innings. She scored 10 runs off 16 balls. Alisha Yadav (4), Anu Kadayat (0) and Rachna Chaudhary (2) were run out with boundaries. Trishna Vishwakarma is out for 3 runs. Rhea Sharma remained unbeaten on 5 runs. Riya hit the second boundary of the Nepali innings. Nishita, Fahomeda Choya and Anisha Akhtar took 1 wicket each for Bangladesh.

Although Nepal took 3 wickets in the beginning, Bangladesh completed the target in 13.2 overs. Rachna Chaudhary caught Sumaiya Akhtar for 4 runs in the third ball of the first over. Rhea bowled Choya for 1 run in the next over. Juwairia Firdos is dismissed for 2 runs. Sadia Islam and captain Sumaiya Akhtar shared 21 runs for the fourth wicket to keep Bangladesh safe.

Sadia scored 16 runs in 24 balls with 1 boundary and was dismissed by Pooja. Sumaiya scored 12 runs off 24 balls. She was dismissed by the boundary. Afia Asima remained unbeaten on 9 and Maua 5 runs. Now Nepal will play group stage matches against Scotland on Monday and Australia on Wednesday.

Nepal was defeated by 9 wickets against West Indies and 5 wickets against America in the practice match of U-19 World Cup. Bangladesh defeated Sri Lanka by 4 wickets in practice and England in Super Over.
