The first edition of the Nepal Kabaddi League (NKL) started on Friday at Rakhep Covered Hall in Tripureshwar. Kathmandu Mavericks won the opening match.

Kathmandu defeated Pokhara Lakers by a narrow margin of 42-41. Kathmandu has added 5 points. Kathmandu took the lead from the start.

At one time, Pokhara was making a comeback and returned to the position of 6-8. However, Kathmandu doubled the lead with a super tackle by captain Ghanshyam Rokamagar. Pokhara was out twice in the first half. Kathmandu managed to take a 25-14 lead in the first half. 

In the middle of the second half, Pokhara made a comeback. In the last 6 minutes, Pokhara reached the position of 32-36. At the same time, Kathmandu's captain Ghanshyam was easily stopped by Pokhara. Soon after, Rohan Shrestha from Pokhara made three outs in his red to make the game 36-36. 

After that, Pokhara continued to put pressure on Kathmandu and made the game 40-38. Then both teams added one more point. However, the Raiders' Ghanshyam used his experience on the court to the fullest, sending off three players in the last two minutes to give the team a win. He was the player of the match.
