Jai Nepal Cup South Asian University T-20 cricket tournament is going to be held.
The competition organized by the Nepal Students Association with the aim of promoting the issue of climate change will start on Monday. The 9-day tournament will be held at the Trivi Cricket Ground in Kirtipur. In the
competition, three universities from Nepal, KU, Midwest and Eastern University, Delhi, Lucknow and Babasaheb Bhimrao Bihar University from India and Dhaka University from Bangladesh will compete.
Technical committee coordinator and national umpire Rabindra Gupta informed that the participating teams will be divided into two groups and the top two teams of each group will advance to the semi-finals. Out of the total prize money of 3 million, the winner will get 15 million and the runner-up will get 10 million. It is said that 500,000 will be awarded to the best players in various categories.
"We had invited many universities in the world, but not all teams were able to come due to the high cost of air fares," said Dujang Sherpa, "We believe that the number of participants will increase from next year, with an estimated budget of about 30 million." Coordinator Ganesh Thapa said that arrangements have been made to accommodate the foreign teams coming to the tournament.
In the case of Nepali, only players registered in the university will be allowed to play. The spokesperson of the association, Suraj Sejuwal, said that trees will be planted equal to the total run. Nimarinji Sherpa, the youngest climber who has climbed 14 mountains above 8,000 meters in the ticket price of 100 and 500, is the goodwill ambassador.
