Nepali tennis player Abhishek Bastola suffered another defeat in Japan UTR Pro Tennis Tour.
On Thursday, Abhishek lost to his home rival Kohtaro Kuriyama 7-5, 6-1 in the men's singles of the tournament in Noda, Japan. Abhishek, who fought hard in the first set, could not maintain the same rhythm.
He was defeated in the first match by Japan's Taketo Takamisawa in straight sets 6-2, 6-3.
More than 3,000 players from different countries are participating in UTR Pro Tennis with a prize money of 20,000 US dollars.
Abhishek, the only competitor from Nepal who is playing UTR tour, will compete against Australia's Arjun Malhotra on Friday in the next match of the round robin. Abhishek said that the series in Japan will be important for him to improve his world ranking and gain international experience.
