Nepal has lost to West Indies in the first warm-up match of ICC Women's U-19 Twenty-20 World Cup. In Malaysia's opening practice match on Monday, West Indies U-19 defeated Nepal by 9 runs at the College Tuenku Jafar ground in Negeri Sembilan.

West Indies, who won the toss and chose to bat, scored 109 runs after losing 4 wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Asabi Kalender and Amrita Ramtahal added 31 runs in the first six overs of the power play to give the Caribbean team a good start. On the first ball of the seventh over, Rachna Chaudhary dismissed Amrita and broke this partnership.

Nepal, which is going to play in the U-19 World Cup for the first time, was bowled out for 100 runs in 19.1 overs. Simana scored 23 runs in 19 balls with 3 fours but it was not enough to give victory to Nepal. She was dismissed as the eighth player. Nepal lost the last 3 wickets with a gap of 2 runs. 

Nepal did not start well. Sana Praveen was bowled by Kenika Kasar on the first ball of the innings. Another opener Savitri Dhami also scored only 5 runs in 17 balls. Captain Pooja scored 18 with 3 fours from 20 balls and Soni Pakhrin scored 15 runs from 23 balls. 

Both Jyotsanika Marasini and Alisa Yadav were dismissed for 1 run. Kiran Kunwar played 18 balls and scored 14 runs with 2 fours. Trishna Vishwakarma was out for 3 runs and Anu Kadayat was out for 1 run. West Indies' Trisha Hardat, Alia Wickes and Emih Gilbert took 2 wickets each. Nepal will play the second practice match against America on Wednesday. 

Nepal, which is in Group D, will start its U-19 World Cup journey by playing against Bangladesh on Saturday. Then Nepal will play against Scotland on January 20 and Australia on January 22.
