Nepali golfer Sadbhav Acharya topped the first day of the 38th Bangladesh Amateur Golf Championship.
With a score of 3-under 69, Sadbhav took the top spot by three strokes behind Bangladesh's Mohammad Shahabuddin.
At the Kurmitola Golf Club in Dhaka, Sadbhav played the first 18 hole match bogey free. He saved par from the first to the tenth hole. He saved one shot each in the 11th, 13th and 17th holes and made an excellent score card of 3 under.
Shahabuddin is in second place with even-par 72. With a score of 2 over 74, Nepal's Rahul BK, Sri Lanka's Chakitha Pushpika and Bangladesh's Safiful Islam and Mohammad Samim are joint third among the four players.
Rahul wasted 1 shot each on the second, sixth and ninth holes as he finished the front nine at even-par 36. He birdied the third, fifth and seventh holes. Rahul wasted 1-1 shots on the 10th and 17th holes to complete the back nine in 2-over 38. In the
team event, the duo of Nepal's Sadbhav and Rahul stood at the top with a score of 1 under 143. Nepal is behind Bangladesh 'A' team by 5 strokes. The team of Abu Bakar Siddiqui and Mohammad Shahbuddin of Bangladesh 'A' team scored 148 in 4 overs. Safiqul Islam and Roman Miah of Bangladesh 'B' team finished third with a score of 6 over 150. One hundred players are participating in the
four-day tournament. Eight teams towards the team are competitive.
