Koshi Campus has made a winning start in the second state-level inter-college T-20 cricket tournament in Itahari. Koshi won by 26 runs against Astha College, Damak in the opening match of the tournament, hosted by Itahari Adarsh Giants on Monday.
Koshi, who lost the toss and batted at the Janata Cricket Ground located in Itahari-9, scored 135 runs by losing 8 wickets in 16 overs. Koshi's Subham Baral scored 35 runs, Gopal Mandal scored 27 runs and James Bick scored 17 runs. Saujan Ghimire of Astha took 3 wickets and Sangam Budhathoki took 2 wickets.
Chasing the target of 136 runs, Aastha lost 8 wickets in the stipulated over and scored only 109 runs. Sangam Budhathoki scored 30 runs, Himanshu Giri scored 18 runs and Saujan Ghimire scored 15 runs. Man of the match was Gopal Mandal from Koshi. He took 3 wickets.
In the second match on Monday, Itahari Model College defeated Koshi St. James College by 81 runs. Chasing the target of 153 runs given by the sample, Koshi St. James was bowled out for 72 runs. Prabhat Rai scored 56 runs off 39 balls. MD Arif of St. James took 5 wickets. Prakash Karki, who took 5 wickets to win the sample, became the man of the match.
Teams from different 10 colleges of Jhapa, Morang and Sunsari of Koshi province are participating in the competition which will last till 26th of January. The tournament was conducted with the technical support of Sunsari District Cricket Association and Cloud Education and Visa Service. The chairman of the organizer Bhupal Luintel informed that the
competition aims to highlight the cricket talent among the colleges of Koshi province and also encourage the educational sector through sports.
