Nepal Police Club, Tribhuvan Army Club, Gujarat State Volleyball India and Manimukund Volleyball Club have reached the semi-finals of the Madan Bhandari Gold Cup Indo-Nepal men's volleyball tournament held in Ramnagar, Butwal. With the end of the group stage matches on Monday, the four teams decided the final four.
Rukum Paschim Volleyball Training Centre, Galkot Volleyball Club Baglung, departmental team APF and organizer Madan Bhandari Sports Club have dropped out of the competition. Group 'A' winner Police and Group 'B' runner-up Gujarat and Group 'B' winner Army and Group 'A' runner-up Manimukund will compete in the semi-finals on Monday.
Chief referee Chandrabandana Rai said that the group winners and runners-up have been decided after the completion of two league matches on Monday. In the first match on Monday, Police defeated Rukum Paschim Volleyball Training Center in straight sets 25-18, 25-19, 28-26. Rukum was defeated in all three matches.
In the departmental derby, Army defeated APF with a set of 3-1. Army scored 25-17, 25-21, 19-25, 25-15. Among the four teams in Group 'A', Police and Manimukund won two matches. The host Madan Bhandari Sports Academy won in one game.
Army won 3 matches in group 'B'. APF won only 1 game in three games. Gujarat won 2 matches and made the semi-final place. Galkot Volleyball Club, which came with four Iranians and one Indian, lost all three matches.
