Galkot Volleyball Club Baglung suffered a humiliating defeat in the second match of Madan Bhandari Gold Cup Indo Nepal Men's Volleyball Championship held in Butwal on Sunday.
Gujarat State Volleyball India defeated Galkot in straight sets. Galkot, who had lost the previous two matches, presented an even weaker match against Gujarat. Galkot, playing with 4 Iranian and 1 Indian players, could not perform as well as in the previous matches against Gujarat. Galkot became weak in service, spike, placing and fielding. In return, Gujarat won all three sets with less than 20 points.
Gujarat defeated Galkot in straight sets by 25-18, 25-19 and 25-16. Galkot coach Surendra KC led all the Nepali players in the third set after losing two consecutive sets. That attempt was also foiled by the Gujarat players.
The Iranian player Movin Shree, who is playing from Galkot, has been performing well in the previous matches. However, he did not show that skill and enthusiasm in Sunday's game.
Manimukund won the first match on Sunday. Organizers said that the competition will be held on Monday between Nepal Police Club and Rukum Paschim Volleyball Training Center and Tribhuvan Army Club and APF. The group stage matches will end with these two matches on Monday. The semi-final match will be held from Tuesday.
Among the four teams in Group A, Nepal Police and Manimukund Volleyball Club have won 2 matches and the host Madan Bhandari Sports Academy has won 1 match. Rukum West has lost both games. Madan Bhandari Sports Academy has lost 2 and Manimukund 1.
Similarly, Nepal Army Club, which is in Group B, has won 2 matches. After playing two matches, the departmental team APF won 1 and Gujarat State Volleyball India won 2 matches. Galkot Volleyball Club, which played with Iranian and Indian players, lost in three games. The game is being conducted in Leaguecom Knockout. 8 teams from Nepal and India are participating in the competition which will last until 24th December.
