A two-day Jai Trophy cricket tournament is being held in Janakpur and Birganj from December 21 under the organization of Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN). This competition between four teams will continue till January 3.
Jai Trophy is going to be played between the top four teams of last year's Prime Minister's Cup in a test format.
Madhesh Pradesh, Bagmati Pradesh, Nepal Police Club and Tribhuvan Army Club will compete at the proposed Ramjanki Multi-Purpose Stadium at Rajaul in Janakpur and Narayani Sports Ground at Birganj. Jai Trophy will be inaugurated in Janakpur and will be concluded in Birganj, CAN's Madhesh state president Sunil Mahaseth informed.
According to him, the ground work of Janakpur and Birganj for Jai Trophy has almost reached its final stage. Mahaseth told Kantipur, "The work on the pitch and field is almost over." The work of making tent parapit, stage and pavilion is also being done. Other matches will be two-day and the final will be three-day.
The ground at Ramzanaki Stadium has been upgraded for Jai Trophy. According to the president of Dhanusha District Cricket Association, Shobhakant Pandey, the ground has been being upgraded for the Jai Trophy for three months. The cricket ground was not level. In Birgunj, the first match will be played between Army and Police, second match between Madhesh and Police and third match between Madhesh and Army.
Cricketer Akash Pandey said that there is excitement among the cricket lovers as the national level cricket tournament is going to be held in Janakpur and Birgunj, the big cities of Madhesh Pradesh.

The final will be held in Birgunj from January 1 to 3. which will be played in a three-day structure.
