Two matches were played on the second day of the Madan Bhandari Gold Cup Indo-Nepal Running Shield Men's Volleyball held in Butwal. Although the tie-set has been announced for three matches, the final match on Thursday has been postponed after the field got cold.
Tribhuvan Army Club defeated Gujarat Pradesh Volleyball Association, India 3-1 in the first match at Ramnagar Sports Ground located in Butwal Sub-Metropolitan City-10 on Thursday. Army lost the first set 22-25. The second set was won by 29-27, the third and fourth sets by 25-21 and 25-22 respectively. Army, who fell behind from the start in the first set, came back and won the second set.
Army, who had played for the Nepali national team, including Dhanpati Kunwar, Durga Bahadur Khadka, Dhan Bahadur Bhatt, Saran Samari, Durga Mahato, lost a lot of points because they could not receive the services of the Indian players. In the second set, which was close to victory with 23-19 points, the match reached 29-27 when the Army players lost consecutive points. At the beginning of the third set of the match, the Army had a poor performance.
Gujarat led by Jehan Mallik took a 6-0 lead at the start of the game without letting the army spiker move. After falling behind by 6 points, Army took the first time out. After that, army's Dhan Bahadur Bhatt and Saran Samri's consecutive successful spikes and Gujarat's 6 services failed to cross the net, the army managed to win with 25-21 points. Army won the fourth set 25-22. Army's second match will be against Galkot Volleyball Club on Saturday. Gujarat will play against Nepal APF Club on Friday. The second match of the
tournament was played between Manimukund Volleyball Club and Rukum Paschim Volleyball Training Center. In the second match, Manimukund Club defeated Rukum Paschim in straight sets. Manimukund defeated Rukum West by 25-21, 25-15 and 25-21. In front of Manimukund's players, Rukum West's players could not play in harmony.
Manimukund entered the field with players from Baglung and Gulmi who were playing in the national team. Rukum, who played against him, was a player from the West, including the Gandaki volleyball captain Hari Pandey, but he was defeated in straight sets because he could not coordinate. The players of Rukum West could not take any chances even in the match which took place when the weather in Butwal was a bit open.
Due to the cold weather in Butwal, Thursday's final match between APF and Galkot volleyball club has been postponed after reaching the fourth set. The players started slipping on the mats of the playground after more cold came out from the ground. APF players left the field when Galkot Volleyball Club, which had won 2 sets, was ready to play. It was postponed after the APF players were not ready to play. The chief referee of the tournament, Chandravandana Rai, said that the matches will be held on Friday according to the predetermined tie set and it has not been decided when the postponed matches will be held.
