Aravasamrat Hada and Sunira Thapa became champions in the 21st Machhapuchhre Pokhara Open and Veterans Tennis Tournament held in Pokhara on Tuesday. Aarav defeated Pranab Manandhar and Sunira defeated Saloni Tamang in the final of the tournament organized by Kaski District Tennis Association on Tuesday.

In men's singles, Arav beat Pranav 6-1, 6-1 and in women's singles, Sunira defeated Saloni in straight sets 6-2, 6-3. Both champions received Rs 80,000 and runners-up Rs 40,000.

Former number one player over the age of 35, Jitendra Pariyar defeated Santosh Khatri in straight sets 6-1, 6-2 to win the title. Jitendra won 60,000 and the runner-up Santosh won 30,000. Kamal Bhandari became the winner in the over 45 final.

He beat Rohit Sunuwar 6-0, 6-2. The winner won 40,000 and the runner-up won 20,000. Chandra Shahi won over 55 years. He defeated Jeevan Ghimire in the final in straight sets 6-2, 6-2. Chandra received Rs 30,000 and Jeevan received Rs 15,000.

Kiran KC, founder of Machhapuchhre Bank and director of KC Group, Vice President of Nepal Tennis Association Vinod Kayastha, Coordinator Naveen Chalise distributed trophies to the winning players. Director Kumar Adhikari said that more than 140 players participated in the competition. The winning veteran player handed over the prize money to the ball boy.

Uttamkumar Sherpa, Jeet Pradhan, Rs 10,000, Hemraj Dhakal Rs 10,000, Manoj Rana Rs 7,500 and Jolly Tarzan handed over Rs 2,500 to junior tennis player Sandeep Bick. 12 players were deployed as ball boys.
