Alex Maharjan and Dicken Maharjan of Ward 7 of Lalitpur Metropolitan Municipality have won gold medals in the 6th Mayor's Cup Lalitpur Metropolitan Municipality inter-ward table tennis competition.

Alex was the winner in Men's Singles Category 'A' and Dicken was the winner in Category 'B'. In 'A' category, national players were also competing, while in 'B' there was competition apart from national players.

Alex defeated the experienced player Sanyog Kapali in a set of 6-11, 11-6, 11-9, 11-7 in the final of 'A' held at Gashchhen in Patan, Lalitpur. Vipul Maharjan of Ward 8 and Dicken Maharjan of Ward 7 came third.

In the category 'B' final of the competition organized by Lalitpur Metropolitan City Ward 9, Dicken defeated Sanjil Shakya of Ward 6 in a set of 11-7, 6-11, 12-10, 3-11, 11-9. Suman Shakya of Ward 16 and Allen Maharjan of Ward 7 became third. In the

competition, 637 players from 25 out of 29 wards of Lalitpur metropolis competed in 16 events. Earlier, Sanju Awale in internal singles of Ward 9, Mamta Rajbhandari of Ward 5 in women's singles in veteran over 40 years, Purnashankar Shrestha of Ward 13 in men's singles over 60 years, Rajendra Kapali of Ward 6 in men's singles over 50 years, Rajendra Shrestha in men's singles over 40 years, U-12 Swarnim Shakya of Ward 16 won gold in boys and Arsana Maharjan of Ward 17 won gold in girls.

Aris Shakya of Ward 20 in boys U-16 singles and Saira Shakya of Ward 5 in girls, Vipul Maharjan and Ruvin Maharjan of Ward 8 in men's doubles, Arsana Maharjan of Ward 17 in women's singles, Ward 17 in women's team event, men's team above 40 years Ward 20 stood first in the event and Ward 7 stood first in the men's team event.

The winner was awarded by Mayor of Lalitpur Metropolitan City Chiribabu Maharjan, Chairman of All Nepal Table Tennis Association Vrijendra Bahadur Hamal, Chairman of Organizing Ward 9 Raju Maharjan, Chairman of Lalitpur District Table Tennis Association Ashish Awale and others. According to Nikesh Joshi, a total of 3 lakh 68 thousand rupees was awarded in all the

competitions.

Ward 16 team champion Ward 16 team became champion in

competition. Ward 16 team became champion by winning 3 gold, 5 silver and 2 bronze. Ward 7, which came second, won 3 gold and 3 bronze. Third place Ward 17 won 3 gold and 1 bronze. Ward 20 was fourth with 2 gold, 1 silver and 11 bronze and Ward 6 was fifth with 1 gold and 2 silver.
