Seven provinces and three departmental teams will participate in the competition to be held in February
Sun Star Youth Club is going to organize a national level men's volleyball tournament with huge prize money. The competition to be held in Liwang, the headquarters of Rolpa from February 3 to 8, has more than 9 lakh prize money.
This is the second edition of the competition. The first edition of the competition was held about 10 years ago. The winner will win the Sun-Star trophy along with Rs 5 lakh.
The runner-up will win Rs 250,000 and the third runner-up will win Rs 1 lakh. 50,000 will be awarded to the consolation team. Cash prizes will also be given to the best players, spikers, blockers, setters, defenders, etc. President of
club and former mayor of Rolpa municipality Poorna KC said that the preparations for the competition are hectic. According to him, this is the biggest prize money of any sports competition organized in Rolpa. Ten teams will participate in the tournament organized by the club on the occasion of its thirteenth anniversary. Tribhuvan Army Club, Nepal Police Club and APF Club will participate with 1-1 teams from seven provinces. The logo of the
competition was already made public. KC, the president of the club, said that he believes that organizing the tournament will help in the development of the sports field as well as in the promotion of tourism. It is said that they are coordinating with the three departmental teams and provincial teams for the competition. The slogan of the
competition is 'For the development of tourism and sports of Rolpa'. District level open women's volleyball tournament will also be organized. There will be a competition between participating women's teams on the recommendation of the local level. The winner will win 55,000, the second runner-up 35,000, the third runner-up 15,000 and the fourth runner-up will win 10,000.
''We do not have the necessary financial resources to organize the competition. However, as it is said that the ocean is formed by collecting support from drop by drop, preparations have been made to organize a national tournament by gathering support from all sports lovers,'' said KC, the president of the club. The organizers estimate that a budget of around 40 million is required for the competition.
