Preparations for the 6th Presidential Running Shield Competition-2081 of Butwal sub-metropolitan inter-school level have been completed. It was informed at a press conference on Sunday that the preparations for the competition, which is organized for the purpose of producing athletes at the school level, have been completed.
Bonin Pia, Coordinator of City Sports Development Committee, said that it is necessary to make sports a compulsory subject for children along with education. He said that 53 public and private schools in the city will participate in the competition. In which competitions including volleyball, kabaddi, taekwondo, karate (boy/girl), athletics will be conducted for 3 days.
On the occasion, the mayor Khelraj Pandey said that the municipality is committed to infrastructure development and sports development. He said that work has progressed with the goal of preparing 8 football fields and 3 cricket fields.
Similarly, lawn tennis and basketball courts have also been invested, he said. "Rs 3.5 million budget has been allocated for sports," he said.
