The Wagmati state government will immediately allocate 10 million rupees from the budget of the current financial year for the under construction Gautam Buddha International Cricket Stadium in Bharatpur.
The Council of Ministers meeting held on Thursday evening is going to provide this amount as a subsidy to Bharatpur Metropolitan Municipality.
According to the proposal submitted by the Ministry of Youth and Sports in the cabinet meeting, the amount is going to be provided as the third installment of the current year's budget, said Surajchandra Lamichhane, the spokesperson of the government and Minister of Internal Affairs and Law.
Earlier, the government released 180 million rupees as the second installment on June 24 to the Bharatpur metropolis for the construction of the stadium. The state government had already provided Rs 5 crore as the first installment last year.
In the first phase, the state government had agreed to do work worth Rs. 75 crore with Bharatpur metropolis. However, according to the plan prepared by the Metropolitan Municipality, it is estimated that one billion rupees will be spent to make the national level competition possible.
