Machindra Football Club has entered the semi-finals of the ongoing Falgunand Goal Cup in Kathmandu Fidim. After defeating New Star Football Club Sunsari by a wide margin of 6-2, Machindra Football Club managed to reach the last four of the eleventh edition of Falgunand Goldup.
Biju Bhujel scored only 2 goals for Machindra. He opened the team's account by scoring in the fifth minute of the game. In response, Sunsari's Sushil Rai scored a goal in the 13th minute. The same Biju Bhujel of Machchindra scored the second goal again in 14 minutes.
Aditya Shakya scored the third goal for Machchindra in the 42nd minute and Manish Dangi managed to score the fourth goal in the 57th minute after the interval. Sunsari's Sanjay Shrestha scored a suicide goal in the 61st minute. Machchindra Sunsari progressed with a 5-1 goal difference.
Sunsari's Sandeep Shrestha scored 1 more goal in the 67th minute, but it was not enough to chase down Machindra. In the 84th minute, Machchindra's Saurabh Subba added 1 goal to defeat Sunsari by a wide margin of 6-2.
Machchindra's goal Sanish Shrestha was declared man of the match and was awarded with 10,000 cash.
The final of the competition which started on January 6 will be held on January 15. In this year's Falgunanda Gold Cup, the winner will get Rs 10 lakh 555 and the runner-up will get Rs 5 lakh 555.
