The Star Cup Badminton Tournament is going to be held in Kawasoti, the headquarters of East Nawalparasi. A competition of different age groups will be held in the organization of Young Star Club from 10th to 12th of December.
Anand Gurung, president of the organizing club, said that 70 teams including men A, B, women and junior under-17 will participate. The winners of the competition will be awarded cash prizes along with trophies.
To increase the efficiency of badminton players at the local level, the competition is going to be held with the aim of recognizing the efficiency of the players in Mofusal at the national level. Players from Nawalpur and West Nawalparasi will participate in the competition, which is organized with the aim of raising public awareness about drug addiction and increasing interest in sports, especially among the youth.
Speaking at a press conference held on Sunday, Sridhar Sharma, member-secretary of the Gandaki Province Sports Council, said that the province is developing a procedure for the players' wages, facilities, pensions and medals. He emphasized that the cooperation of the government, community and private sector is necessary for the development of sports.
