Sudurpaschim Royals captain Dipendrasingh Airi has received the car award for being the best Nepali player of the Nepal Premier League (NPL). According to the agreement with NPL organizer Nepal Cricket Association (CAN), SPG Automobiles provided Dipendra with a car.
Omoda-E5 car with a market price of 62 lakhs was dug by Dipendra on the field. Dipendra got a car worth 11 lakhs more than the 51 lakhs that Sudurpaschim received as the runner-up. He scored 227 runs and took 8 wickets in the tournament. He took 3 catches and was also involved in 7 runouts. In the
final, Dipendra could not move much. He could score only 9 runs in 7 balls in batting and took 1 wicket in 4 overs by spending 40 runs in bowling. He bowled Jimmy Nisam when Janakpur Bolts were close to victory.
Zaib is the best player
Saif Zaib from Far West England became the best player of the tournament. He got 5 lakhs. The opening batsman scored 275 runs and took 12 wickets. Janakpur players dominated in other individual categories.
Sri Lanka-born American Lahiru Milantha became the top scorer in the first season of the NPL. After playing a decisive innings against Sudurpaschim in the final, Milantha overtook England's Rabi Bopara and Rohit Paudel.
Bopara of Chitwan Rhinos, captain Rohit of Lumbini Lions, Jaib of Sudurpaschim, Jimmy Nisam of Janakpur and Vinod Bhandari of Sudurpaschim were ahead of Milantha in scoring the most runs before the second innings of the final.
Bopara scored 286 runs in 8 matches. His team was defeated by Karnali Yaks in the Chitwan Eliminator. Rohit scored 279 runs in 7 matches from Lumbini, which was at the bottom of the points table. The final innings took Jaib's total score to 275 and Vinod's score to 235. Before the
final, Milantha had 260 runs. After scoring 87 runs in the final, Milantha became the highest run scorer in NPL with 293 runs. Milantha scored an unbeaten 75 off 53 balls against Biratnagar Kings in the first match of the NPL. Milantha scored that run at a strike rate of over 130. Nisam could score only 4 runs in the final. His total reached 247 runs. Milantha, who got 50,000 as the
player of the final, also became the player who hit the most fours in the tournament. 2 lakh was awarded to him who hit 35 fours. Nisam from Janakpur won the title of Red Bull Energetic Player. He scored 247 runs with 23 sixes and 14 fours in the tournament.
Motorcycle for Lalit
Lalit Rajvanshi of Janakpur won the electric motorcycle award for being the best bowler. Lalit and Sudurpaschim's Scott Kuglen became the highest wicket takers in the first season of NPL with 17 wickets. Both had 16 wickets before the final.
After Sudoorpaschim started aggressively in the final and scored 28 runs in 2 overs, Lalit arrived to handle Janakpur's offensive front. After spending only 4 runs in his first over, he bowled a maiden in the fifth over and curbed the run of Sudurpaschim.
Lalit, who came with his third over in the 13th over, bowled Vinod Bhandari for 41 runs in the second ball of that over. He spent only 8 runs in his first 3 overs. In the 17th over, Lalit, who spent only 7 runs in his fourth over, took 1 wicket after spending 15 runs, keeping 1 maiden in 4 overs.
'For me, Lalit is the best player of the tournament. It has been a good tournament for some players, including Dipendra, but Lalit's performance has come at a crucial time. He bowled many overs in the power play and was equally economical in the death overs," said Janakpur coach Pubudu Dasanayake. "He has shown such performances in many matches. Kuglen was ahead of Lalit in
average. Kuglen has taken wickets at an average of 12.35 in 9 matches and Lalit has taken wickets at an average of 12.52 in 10 matches. Sohail Tanveer of Chitwan Rhinos and Kishore Mahato of Janakpur have taken 14 wickets, Bipin Sharma of Karnali Yaks and Rijan Dhakal of Chitwan have taken 13 wickets and Saif Zaib of Far West, Karan KC of Kathmandu Gurkhaz and Mohammad Mohsin of Janakpur have taken 12 wickets. Vipin, who came from the
talent hunt, won the Emerging Player award. 50,000 was awarded to him while the Presidential Graduate School awarded him a scholarship worth 1 million. The Fair Play title was won by Lumbini Lions.
