Newton has won the title of the first Himarshmi Cup U-19 college/school valley wide student volleyball tournament.
Newton beat Angels Heart in straight sets 26-24, 25-14, 26-24 in the final held at the host Himarshmiko Court located in Tarkeshwar Municipality-9 on Saturday. Himarashmi beat Jai Multiple Campus by 25-19, 25-19 and 25-22 to occupy the third position. The top three runners-up won 25,000, 15,000 and 5,000 rupees respectively.
Newton's Rajan Periyar was declared the best player. Sandesh Pariyar of Himarshmika was chosen as the best lifter, Amrit Adhikari of Himarshmika as the best spiker, Praveen Sunar of Angels Heart as the best server, Saroj Khanal of Newton as the best defender, Nirmal Bick of Angels Heart as the best blocker and Krishna Saud of Newton as the emerging player.
The winner was awarded by Jitendra Bahadur Chand, president of Nepal Volleyball Association, Lokendra Bahadur Khadka, founder principal of Himarshmi, Teerth Gurung, president of Himarshmi and others.
