With the help of captain Anjan Bisht's hat-trick, NRT has made it to the semi-finals of the Jhapa Cup football tournament being held in Birtamode.
NRT defeated Kathmandu League winners Chitlang FC by a wide margin of 5-1 to make it to the last four.
NRT's victory has completed the semi-final equation of the competition. NRT will play Rashtriya Jagriti Club of Itahari in the second semi-final. Before that, on Friday, Siraha's Salhesh FC and Church Boys United will compete in the first semi-final.
In the 13th minute of the match on Thursday, captain Anjan scored a goal from the foreigner Neymar's pass and gave the team the lead. Then in the 36th minute, Chitlang's defender Gaurav Shrestha fouled Anjan and NRT got a penalty. In that, Anjan scored a goal to make the game 2-0. At the end of the first half, in the 42nd minute, Janak Koirala scored an excellent volley on Fazil's header pass from Chitlang. In the second half, NRT maintained their attacking rhythm. In the 65th minute, Neymar scored the third goal for the team with a single effort from Anjan's pass. Then in the 68th minute, Shishir Lekhi added a goal to Neymar's pass to give NRT a 4-1 lead.
In the 88th minute of the game, Gaurav Shrestha again fouled Anjan and NRT got the second penalty. Anjan completed the hat-trick by scoring. Throughout the game, NRT made dozens of attacks on the opposition post. In the 21st minute, Anjan's free kick from 25 yards was saved by Chitlang's goalkeeper. In the 29th minute, Anjan's next shot hit the post and came back.
NRT had earlier lost to Church Boys in the Jhapa Gold Cup final. However, NRT became the champion in the recently concluded Eelam Gold Cup. NRT captain Anjan Bisht was declared the player of the match. He received an award of Rs.
