Kathmandu Gurkhaz defeated Biratnagar Kings by 1 wicket in Nepal Premier League (NPL) cricket after Dipesh Kandel hit a winning four. Kathmandu completed the target of 180 runs by scoring 120 runs in 18.1 overs.
The last pair of Deepesh and Shankar Rana shared an unbeaten partnership of 18 runs. At a time when the team needed 2 runs for victory, Dipesh hit a winning boundary off Subas Bhandari. Dipesh hit 1 four and six while scoring 11 unbeaten runs in 5 balls. Another unbeaten batsman Shankar scored 16 runs with 1 four off 20 balls.
With this victory of Kathmandu, there is only a slight chance of reaching the playoffs. Kathmandu won their fourth victory in 7 matches. Chitwan Rhinos have reached the playoffs after Kathmandu failed to win by a large margin. Although Kathmandu, Chitwan and Karnali Yaksak have the same 8 points, Chitwan is ahead in net run rate. Biratnagar, who lost the toss and were invited to bat, were bowled out for 117 runs in 19.5 overs. Erasmus played an important role in stopping Biratnagar with a small score with excellent bowling. Off-spinner Erasmus took 3 wickets for 17 runs in 4 overs. He bowled Scott Edwards and took the wickets of Chris Soule and captain Sandeep Lamichhane in the same over.
