ANFA will encourage the private sector to run the academy: ANFA General Secretary Rai

The General Secretary of All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) Kiran Rai has said that in the future, ANFA will not operate the academy itself but will run the academy through the clubs in a company model.

General Secretary Rai expressed this opinion while addressing the annual general meeting ceremony of Veterans City Club Birgunj on Saturday evening in Birgunj. "ANFA will no longer operate the academy," he said, "now the private sector will also be encouraged to operate the academy, the academy will be operated on a company model."

So far, football has been running on emotional investment, but now it will proceed in a professional manner, he said. Saying that there are currently 500 to 600 small football clubs across the country, General Secretary Rai said that there is a plan to register and operate A division clubs under the Companies Act. He also said that in the future, an environment will be developed where the players of C Division clubs can also earn income. 

Chief Administrative Officer of Birgunj Metropolitan Municipality Arvindlal Karn also said that the office of Birgunj Metropolitan Municipality is very ready to cooperate with Veterans Club for the development of football in Birgunj. Jaswant Yadav, chairman of Sakhuwaprasauni rural municipality, promised to invest as much as possible in the construction of a standard stadium in his municipality and for the development of Parseli football field.  Pankaj Shrestha, the general secretary of

club, while presenting the progress report, said that the club has been organizing various social programs including the International Veteran Football Tournament in 2075 and the first inter-school football tournament in memory of Keshar Prasad Manandhar, the first mayor of Birganj in 2079.
