New Road Team (NRT) has succeeded in winning the title of 'Second Eelam Gold Cup'. Former winners NRT defeated the league winners Church Boys Club by a wide margin of 3-0 and became the champions of Elam Gold Cup for the second time.
Church Boys performed well from the beginning of the game and tried to keep NRT under pressure but could not score due to the excellent defense of the goalkeeper.
In the 24th minute after the start of the game, Neymar, a foreign player playing for NRT, opened the team's account by scoring the first goal. Captain Anjan Bisht scored the second and third goals after the interval in the 51st and 63rd minutes respectively.
He scored 3 goals throughout the game and was awarded with the title of 'High Scorer' and Man of the Tournament. Similarly, Jeevan Singh Kaman of NRT was awarded the best coach, Bhuvan Karki of Church Boys was awarded the best midfielder, Arjun Gurung of Redhorse Eelam was the emerging player, Vikas Sunar of NRT was the best goalkeeper and Ashish Gurung of NRT was awarded with the title of best defense and 11,500 cash. Journalist Ganesh Ghimir was awarded with the Redhorse Football Journalism Award for being the best in
sports promotion and news writing. The prize money is 11 thousand 500 rupees in cash.
organizers awarded Sudeep Rai from Elam as the best volunteer. Elam's Kamna Khadka was awarded with the fan of the match title in Saturday's match.
In the second edition of Elam Gold Cup which started on 21st of November, 8 prestigious teams of Nepal including one from India participated. After winning the title, NRT received 10 lakhs in cash and a trophy and the runner-up Church Boys received 5 lakhs, a trophy and a certificate.
