Tribhuvan Army Football Club has won the opening match of the first Jhapa Cup football tournament in Birtamode.
Army defeated LX City FC of Morang by 3-0. Jellespjang Karki, Dishant Rai and Neeraj Chaudhary, who are strikers of the national team from the Army, scored goals. In the 25th minute of the game, Gillespie scored a goal when Morang's defender advanced. He directed the ball forward alone from the middle of the field to the post.
Another goal from Army was possible in the 82nd minute of the game. Substitute player Dishant increased the lead by scoring a pass from Neeraj Ghisingh. In the last period of the game, Neeraj added a goal to ensure the victory of the army.
Taking advantage of the weakness of Morang's defense line, goalkeeper Arun Blown could not save Neeraj's shot. In the 47th minute of the game, unmarked Dipesh Alemgar failed to take advantage of the opportunity and missed the equalizer. Dishant Rai became the
player of the match. He got 10,000 prize.
Sunday will be a competition between host Jhapa 11 FC and Rashtriya Jagriti Club Itahari.
The general secretary of the organizer Jhapa 11 FC Ganesh Pokharel informed that the winner of the competition to be held on December 8 will receive a prize of 10 lakhs and the runner-up will receive 5 lakhs. 9 clubs from Nepal and one from India are participating. Jhapa Cup was inaugurated by Hikmat Karki, Chief Minister of Koshi Province.
The Jhapa Cup has started from this year in the plan of football supporters of Birtamod. Jhapa Cup has been organized by the same group which is doing Jhapa Gold Cup.
