A whirlwind journey for a Rhinos supporter

Chitwan Rhinos and Biratnagar Kings were playing in the Nepal Premier League (NPL) on Friday afternoon. To boost the morale of the team in Kathmandu, Rhinos' supporters took a bus to Kathmandu on Friday morning.

Rhinos is a team invested by Chitwan Medical College (CMC). Only five buses were arranged by the CMC to take the supporters to Kadmadu.

Sougat Poudel is from Bharatpur Metropolitan City-22 Patihani. He hails from Pahitani, 20 km from Bharatpur, and was found at the CMC premises before 5 am on Friday. He had come to Narayangadh on Thursday evening. CMC has arranged free bus rides for supporters who have bought tickets. Buses ply from Bharatpur in the morning. So before coming from far away in the cold, Sougat had stayed here the day before.

He was going with seven friends. Patihani's Ashwin Poudel also came out to watch the match for the second time. I also went to watch the first match of Chitwan Rhinos. The first match was against Kathmandu Gurkhaz. I went by bus from CMC itself. I came back after watching the first and the next match against Pokhara Avengers,' said Ashwin. He said that it would be fun because he was going to go in a group with his friends.

It's fun to go with friends and siblings. Even after he arrives, he stays in the group. The atmosphere is in favor of the team," said Ashwin. It didn't take long for the five buses to fill up. Those who had tickets to go on the bus had mentioned their names the previous day. The names of those who boarded the bus were pasted on the door. The trip was free. Snacks were also provided.

'Five buses are always full. We have sent buses only on the days when there is a Chitwan match. In the last few days, there are no more people stuck in five buses. We have seen that those who are not attached are going happily in their own way,' said Hari Bohra of CMC, who is assigned to the management. The bus leaves at 6 am for afternoon matches and even earlier at 3 am for the first match in the morning.

'In the bus that we have arranged, more supporters have arrived at the ground in their own way. There are also many people from Chitwan in Kathmandu. It is a matter of pride for us to reach the ground to cheer up all the teams,” said Pratap Devkota, director of Chitwan Rhinos. So far, Chitwan has won 3 and lost 3 out of 6 matches played so far. Chitwan is playing against Janakpur on Saturday morning. Chitwan had a good start to their NPL journey by defeating Gurkhaz in their opening match.
