Amateur golfer Sadabhav Acharya won the title of Surya Nepal Kathmandu Open Golf on Friday by winning the last day's match. He defeated defending champion Pro Neeraj Tamang by two strokes. This is the second tournament of Surya Nepal Golf Tour 2024/25. Surya Nepal has succeeded in winning the title of Kathmandu Open.
He shot a perfect 6-under 62 on Friday to claim his fourth career title with an amateur total of 15-under 257. He broke the record of 14 under 258 set by Bhuvan Nagarkoti in Kathmandu Open. Neeraj, who is at stake to retain the
title, carded an overall score of 13 under 259 with a 3 under 65. He came second. He won the first place in the pro category and received a prize of 1 lakh 25 thousand rupees. Dinesh Prajapati scored a 3-under 65 on the final day and finished third with an overall score of 8-under 264. He got 85 thousand rupees.
Amateur Rahul BK finished fourth overall with 6-under 266. He shot a 4-under 64 on the final day. He was fourth overall and second in the amateur category. Nepal's number one pro Bhuvan won 68,000 on Friday, finishing fifth with a 4-under 64 overall and 4-under 268. Bishnu Prasad Sharma and Jairam Shrestha tied for joint lowest overall with a score of 3-under 269. Vishnu played 71 in 3 overs.
Jayaram, the leader on the first day, shot 6 consecutive birdies from the 13th to the 18th hole while preparing a perfect score of 6-under 62 on Friday. Both of them received 51 thousand 500. Overall, Sanjay Lama was eighth with an even par 72, Deepak Magar was ninth with 2 over 274 and Toranvikram Shahi was eighth, ninth and tenth with 3 over 275 respectively. Sanjay shot a 4-under 64, Deepak shot a 3-over 71 and Toran shot a 3-under 65. They received 45 thousand, 38 thousand and 35 thousand rupees respectively.
Sadbhav was one stroke behind Neeraj at the start of play on the final day. At the end of the front nine, Neeraj had a one-stroke lead. Both finished the front nine in 4-under 30. Sadbhav birdied the first, fourth, fifth and sixth holes. Neeraj also hit four birdies in the first, second, fourth and seventh holes.
11th hole became the turning point. Sadbhav birdied and Neeraj bogeyed. Sadbhav took a one-stroke lead. He also saved a shot on the 13th hole and took a two-stroke lead. Continuing this lead, Sadbhav won the title by finishing the back nine at 2 under 32. Neeraj completed the back nine in 1 over 35. Sadbhav performed bogey-free.
Dinesh played the front nine in 2 under 34. He saved one shot each in the first, fourth, fifth and eighth holes. However, he made a double bogey on the seventh hole. After this, against a bogey on the 14th hole, birdies on the 10th and 13th holes finished the back nine at 1 under 33. Viduraraj Adhikari, Brand Manager of Surya Nepal Pvt. Ltd. and Rabindraman Shrestha, President of NPGA awarded the winners.
