Surya Nepal Kathmandu Open, the second tournament under Surya Nepal Golf Tour of this season, will start on Tuesday at RNGC in Tilganga. 33 professional and 12 amateur golfers will compete in the four-day tournament of 72 holes.
The general secretary of Nepal Professional Golfers Association (NPGA) Deepak Acharya has informed that the total prize money of the competition is 7 lakh 35 thousand rupees. The
winner will receive a prize of Rs 150,000, the second runner-up Rs 85,000 and the third runner-up Rs 68,000. The fourth will get 55,000 and the fifth will get 48,000. The cut will be applied at the end of 36 holes. The top 21 pro golfers and amateurs making the pro-cut will make the final two days. All pro golfers who make the cut will receive cash prizes.
Defending champion Neeraj Tamang, Nepal's number one pro Bhuvan Nagarkoti, Ravi Khadka and Dinesh Prajapati are the contending golfers. They will be challenged by amateur golfer Rahul Vishwakarma, the winner of the last tournament, and amateur number one Sadbhava Acharya.
NPGA President Rabindraman Shrestha thanked the sponsor Surya Nepal for their continuous support and expressed confidence that the players will perform impressively in the tournament.
