The Kava Men's Volleyball Club Championship has started on Saturday at Rakhep Covered Hall in Tripureshwar. 5 clubs from four countries including Nepal have participated in the championship. On the first day, the Nepalese team produced mixed results.
Tiptop Help Nepal Sports Club won and Gandaki Province team was defeated. Both matches lasted for five sets. Help Nepal defeated the Indian team Calicut Heroes in a set of 3-2.
Help Nepal took advantage of the home court and won against the contender Calicut in sets of 25-22, 20-25, 22-25, 26-24, 15-10. Despite the early lead, Help Nepal came back in the match after losing two sets.
In the next match, Gandaki Pradesh lost 3-2 sets against Maldivian club HDC. Gandaki won two consecutive sets 25-18, 25-23 in his favor and then lost consecutive sets.
HDC won the set 25-23, 30-28, 15-13 despite Gandaki's strong challenge. Another team of the championship is from Iran. All the teams have collected points on the first day. As the match lasted for five sets, the winner got 2 points and the loser got 1 point.
