Army's Praphrul Maharjan has reached the semi-finals of the 3rd Lalitpur Mayor's Cup National Badminton Tournament being held in Lalitpur.
In men's singles, Praful defeated Unity Badminton Academy's Priyanshu Chhetri 21-7, 21-7 and made it to the last four. He will now compete against APF's Devraj Rana. Devraj beat Army's Supreme Pant 21-18, 21-11.
In the competition organized by Lalitpur District Badminton Association under the co-organization of Balkumari Remix Club, APF's Prince Dahal defeated Army's David Thapamgar by 21-14, 21-9 and set the semifinals. He will play against his own club Kshitij Khanal. Kshitij defeated Army's Suvin Shrestha 21-10, 21-4.
Army's Rasila Maharjan reached the semifinals in women's singles. Rasila beat Swarlin Shrestha of APF 21-6, 21-9. Rasila will play her club's Rihanna Sherchan to reach the finals. Rihanna beat Sushma Shrestha of Police by 22-20, 12-21, 27-25.
In the U-17 competition, Cessna Sripali of Army defeated Shreya Vajracharya of Balkumari by 21-9, 21-13. She secured a meeting with Amita Giri of her own club in the semi-finals. Amita defeated her club's Vishna Bista 21-12, 21-7 to set the semifinals.
In the U-17 men's singles, Kavir KC of Police defeated Sudesh Rajkoti of Army 21-10, 21-15 and Aman Dangol of Kathayat Badminton Academy defeated Saurya Maharjan of Army 21-16, 21-16 to enter the semifinals.
Army's Suvin Shrestha defeated Sitapakha Badminton Club's Ima Tamang by 21-13, 21-16 and Kailali's Shishir Rana beat Army's Deep Thing by 21-14, 15-21, 21-12 to make it to the last four.
Masters In doubles over 45, Premkumar Gurung and Rajendra Wagle of Kaski, Shant Dangol and Krishna Shrestha of Balkumari, Himal Gurung and Shambhu Shrestha of Kaski and San Bahadur Sanwa and Lakpa Sherpa of Sports Hub have reached the semi-finals.
