At the end of the fourth round of the National 'B' Chess Championship in Bhaktapur on Wednesday, four players have taken the lead.

In the competition, Purushottam Silwal of Makwanpur, FM Rijendra Rajbhandari of Kathmandu, Ashish Phuyal of Dolakha and FM Rupesh Jaiswal of Rautahat remain undefeated and are ahead with 3.5 points.

In the third and fourth round, young player Purushottam won against Milan Lama and tied with Rijendra. Rijendra defeated Dhiren Rai before that. Ashish tied with Rupesh and eliminated Prakashchandra Nepal. Rupesh defeated Pratish Khanal and tied with Ashish.

CM Milan Lama of Makwanpur, Suraj Singh of Kathmandu, Rajesh Kashpati of Bhaktapur, Niken Kusatha, Suroj Maharjan of Lalitpur and Sushil Chaudhary of Siraha are in the second position with 3 points each.

Players will be selected from this tournament for the 25th National Chess Tournament to be held in January.

On the women's side, Vinita Kapali of Kirtipur and Isha Giri of Nepalgunj are undefeated and lead by adding 3.5 points.

Vinita was up against Angel Maharjan, Lakshmi Kandel, Poonam Prasai and tied with Isha. He will compete with Olympiad Riya Shrestha in the fifth round. Isha defeated Shreya Duval, Nihana Shrestha, Nayuma Magar and Binita with  Played equal. He will now play against Chitwan's Lakshmi Kandel.

Experienced Lakshmi stood second with 2.5 points.  Along with him, Punam Prasai from Jhapa, Angel Maharjan from Dakshinkali and Rhea are joint second with equal marks.
