The 3rd Mayor Running Shield Games organized by Tarkeshwar municipality started on Tuesday.

Before the opening of the competition, a rally was taken out from the office of the host municipality in Dharmasthali to Pipaldanda Tusal Sports Ground with the slogan 'Khel Tarkeshwarko, Sandesh Ektako'. Mayor of Tarkeshwar Municipality Krishnahari Maharjan inaugurated the competition.

Participating school team marched while Kapan Tiger team gave an attractive taekwondo performance. Students of Sacred Heart presented an aerobic dance.

On the first day, Srijana Gyansagar defeated North Valley by 2-0 goals for student football. Kalidevi defeated Kinder Garden with a wide score of 7-0. 36 male and 19 female teams are participating.

3 thousand 454 players from 53 schools are participating in the competition which includes 10 different games. There will be football, volleyball, kabaddi, athletics, karate, taekwondo, usu, basketball, badminton and table tennis competitions. 1 lakh, 60 thousand, 40 thousand and 20 thousand cash prizes will be awarded to the top four teams in the competition. In the last edition, the Laliguras National Academy team became the champion. In the first edition, Himarashmi was the winner.
