Nepal has been eliminated from the ACC U-19 Asia Cup cricket tournament after its second consecutive defeat. Bangladesh defeated Nepal by 5 wickets in the tournament being held in UAE. Nepal lost the first match against Sri Lanka by 55 runs on Friday.
After losing the first two games, Nepal has been eliminated from the group stage. Nepal will play Afghanistan on Tuesday, but that will have no meaning in the semi-final chances equation.
The same will apply in the case of Afghanistan. Afghanistan lost to Sri Lanka by 132 runs in Sharjah on Sunday. Sri Lanka and Bangladesh have reached the semi-finals from Group B after winning their first two matches.
After losing the toss at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Nepal U-19 came into bat and were bowled out for 141 runs after playing only 45.4 overs. Opener Akash Tripathi scored 43 runs. He played 77 balls and hit 5 fours. After another opener Mayan Yadav 4, Arjun Kumal zero, Naren Bhatt 4 along with Santosh Yadav got out for 7 runs, Nepal played the entire innings under pressure.
Uttam Thapamar scored 29 runs. He got run out after hitting 2 fours in 69 balls. Abhishek Tiwari, who came to the lower order after Roshan Vishwakarma was dismissed for 2 and Narine Saud for 4 runs, scored 29 runs with 1 four and 2 sixes in 35 balls. Captain Hemant Dhami was dismissed for 2 runs. Al Fahad, Iqbal Hussain Imon and Rizan Hussan took 2 wickets each from Bangladesh.
Bangladesh completed the target within 29 overs. Although Hemant dismissed opener Kalam Siddiqui in the first over, Jawad Abrar and captain Azizul Hakeem scored half-centuries to give Bangladesh an easy victory. During this, these two added 90 runs for the second wicket. Abrar scored 59 off 65 balls with 5 fours and 4 sixes and Hakeem scored an unbeaten 52 off 72 balls with 2 fours and 3 sixes.
Abrar was dismissed by Yuvraj Khatri who gave Nepal a little hope. After breaking the partnership of Abrar and Hakeem, leg-break bowler Yuvraj bowled Shihav James for zero and Farid Hasan for 13 runs.
Yuvraj dismisses Rizan lbw on the first ball. Yuvraj took 4 wickets with 23 runs and 1 maiden in 6 overs and Hemant took 1 wicket with 39 runs and 1 maiden in 6.4 overs.
