Dawa Gurung of Nepal has been elected as the president of the Asian Pacific Shitorio Karate Federation. The congress of the federation held in Singapore elected Gurung, who is the president of the Nepal Sitoryo Karate Association.
He was elected by getting 18 votes out of 23 votes from 28 countries in the Asian Pacific. Gurung's candidate from the Philippines got 8 votes.
Congress was held in Singapore after the 16th Asian Pacific Games. In the 16th Asian Pacific Karate, Nepal won 9 medals including 2 gold, 2 silver and 5 bronze.
Yuvraj Lama, patron of Nepal Sitorio Karate, has informed that a decision will be made within a month about where and on what date the 17th Asian Pacific Sitorio Karate Tournament will be held. The Nepali team returned home on Monday.
