On this day (August 14) in 2016, Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt set a rare Olympic record.

Bolt won gold in the 100m race, setting a record of three consecutive Olympic golds in the 100m race. In the competition held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, he also won a gold medal in the 200 meter race.

Bolt covered the distance of 100 and 200 meters in 2016 Olympics in 9.81 and 19.78 seconds respectively. Before that, he also won gold in 100 and 200 meters in 2012 and 2008 Olympics.

Bolt's 100m world record set at the 2009 Berlin World Championships has yet to be broken by anyone. At that time, he completed the distance of 100 meters in 9.58 seconds.
