The Nepal Army team won two gold medals in the 26th edition of the national shooting competition for men and 25th edition for women at the shooting range in Satdobato on Wednesday.

Army players won gold in the mixed team of 10m air rifle and pistol. Vinod Basnet and Kalpana Pariyar won the rifle gold for the Army with a total score of 605 while Hari Bahadur Thapa and Sushmita Nepal of Wagmati won the silver. They scored 603.6. Phulmaya Kapchaki and Prajapati Bhurtel of Police won bronze by scoring 592. 9 teams participated in this event.

Army's Jyotika Dhakal and Vishnu Diswa Magar scored 556 when they won the mixed team gold in 10m pistol. Police's Ranjita Gurung and Sukdev Chaudhary won silver with a score of 547. Shreya KC and Vijay Karki scored 543 to get bronze for Gandaki Pradesh.

For men's 10m air rifle, Vinod Basnet of Army, Hari Bahadur Thapa of Wagmati, Sunil Chand of Sudurpaschim, Prajapati Bhurtel of Police, Devendlal Shrestha of Madhesh, Sanjogkrishna Shrestha of Lumbini, Sanam Pun Magar of Gandaki have been selected for the Italian Shahi final stage of Karnali.

In the same event, Summita Nepal of Wagmati, Kalpana Periyar of Army, Phulmaya Kapchhaki of Police, Ayusha Bohra of Lumbini, Khushbu Chaudhary of Madhesh, Karishma Basnet of Gandaki, Manisha Shahi of Karnali and Rupa Acharya of APF have been selected in the same event.

In women's 10m air pistol, Jyotika Dhakal is leading with a score of 551. Shreya KC of Gandaki and Krishna Thapa of Lumbini are second and third with scores of 543 and 533 respectively. Ranjita Gurung of Police 530, Tara Rai of Koshi 497, Ruvina Shrestha of Wagmati 483, Rajkumari Singh of Sudurpaschim 463 and Usha Kumari Pokharel of Madhesh were selected for the final stage with scores of 462.

In men's 10m air pistol, Vishnu of Army 557, Sukdev of Police 552, Vipesh Khadka of Wagmati are in the top three positions with scores of 551. Then Mahendrasingh Rawal of Sudurpaschim 537, Vijay Karki of Gandaki 533, Prakash Rai of Koshi 533, Abdul Wahid Ansari of Lumbini 531 and Jagilal Mahato of Madhesh were selected for the final stage with 452 scores. The general secretary of Nepal Shooting Association, Pradeep Khati, said that the finals of the four events of the

competition will be held on Thursday.
