The National Sports Council (Rakhep) has prepared to reorganize the Nepal Athletics Association. Alleging that the Athletics Association, which is considered the mother of Nepali sports, has not been able to run on time, the council has prepared for a change.

In the recent announcement by Nepalgunj Marathon Pvt. Gopichandar Parki to participate in the London Marathon, Council Member-Secretary Tanklal Ghising announced that he is going to reorganize the Athletics Association. Rajeev Vikram Shah's second term of four years has ended. When the Athletics Association asked for a date for the new elections, Rakhep has been withholding approval.

"It seems that the Athletics Association is disappearing from time to time, that's why we have prepared to reorganize it," Ghising said, stating that the changes are going to be made in coordination with the association, "This matter is also being discussed with the Chairman of Athletics (Shah). Nepal Athletics is going to be restructured under the leadership of the international body World and Asia Athletics.

Director of the National Team Preparation Committee Deepak Bisht also said in the same program that complaints about the association not being effective are coming to him, 'We are at the top in South Asia in the marathon, but the association is that. It feels like we are not reaching our goals in marathons and half marathons when we are not in the role. It is the players who are complaining about not being able to practice properly.

Shah was elected as the president of the Nepal Athletics Association in the general meeting held in Chitwan in 2072. In 2076, Shah was re-elected as president in the elections held in Kathmandu. Shah, who is a state MP of Nepali Congress, expressed surprise at Rakhep's allegation that the union was not able to act as expected, even though it was absolutely correct that the discussions with Rakhep were being held on the matter of reorganization. After the last four years of Shah's term ended, Rakhep formed an ad hoc committee of the association under his chairmanship. It was not recognized by the General Assembly of World Athletics. Shah said that World Athletics and Asia Athletics are planning to send a representative and hold talks with the member-secretary of Rakhap to form a new ad-hoc committee and conduct elections after amending the constitution.

'Due to the busyness of the Asian Athletics programs, they have said that the officials will come from Asia within a week. We are waiting for them. Then we form a new ad hoc committee and it prepares the legislation. "There was a little dispute in the constitution, so the constitution can be changed only in Rohbar under the World Athletics, so we are going to consult," President Shah said. He added, "An ad hoc committee was formed 6 months ago and its deadline was set for 3 months and now that time has also expired." World Athletics did not recognize that committee. The constitution of the association will be made under the guidance of world athletics.

When asked whether the athletics association did not feel the need for elections, Shah said that although the association was going to go for the elections last November, Rakhep stopped it by bringing up the Sports Act and then an ad-hoc committee had to be formed. "The Sports Act says that the sports associations will be autonomous, and the Sports Council is the regulatory body, so we are going to cooperate with it," said Shah. It is believed that Nepali athletics will be benefited by moving forward with the agreement.'

In order to make the Athletics Association a ladder to reach the Nepal Olympic Committee, there is widespread discussion in the sports world about the unnatural behavior of some committee officials and members-secretaries of the Provincial Sports Council. However, Chairman Shah claims that no one's personal interest should affect the athletics association.

"There is interference of politics in every field in Nepal, even if there is a person who understands sports a little bit, he is given responsibility," said Shah, "but it is better if he starts working from a small post." If you try to get a large post at once, it will be a big problem. Not able to come, we should all be wary of those who try to go to the Olympic Committee by leaning on the head of the Athletics Association.'

Shah's preparations again

Shah became the president of the Nepal Athletics Association after becoming the vice-president. Now he seems to be preparing to run for the presidency again for the third term. Shah says that the officials of the highest body of athletics encouraged him to go for a third term.

I told the president of Asia that I have served two terms as president, I have other responsibilities. "We have identified your ability by saying that if you can serve another term, don't leave," said President Shah, referring to officials of Asia Athletics. This year I managed to get 34 out of 41 votes in the Asian Athletics elections. That is why I have been placed in the Finance Committee. If we plan well, more budget can be brought to Nepal from there.'

He said that he wants to make Nepal the headquarters of South Asia. He said, 'I am now a member of the Asian Board, it is a matter of pride for Nepal. I am also in the finance committee. Asian Athletics has divided 44 countries into regions. We belong to the South Asian region, in which I am also the vice president. I want to bring the headquarters of South Asia to Nepal. If that happens, you can see South Asia from Nepal. After establishing the office, international coaches will come, the budget will also increase, it will eventually help our players.'
